"Our generation must change the approach to managing the space industry, otherwise we will lose it", - Tetyana Skorokhod

Such an opinion on the situation of the space industry in Ukraine was expressed by the research associate of the Institute of Space Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the author of the educational portal on space and the member of the experts` council of LuckyBooks project Tetyana Skorokhod.

Our laboratory is preparing a state satellite project. It has been prepared for 10 years, because of the constant "swing" with funding. Due to the delay in funding, programmers, a theoretical physicist left the project. Those who stayed, work on enthusiasm. And such a project, unfortunately, is impossible without money, says Skorokhod. Our generation must change the approach and management structure in the region, then how the financing goes and is distributed.  Then the doors to work with space in our state will open for the new generation. Or we will lose specialists. They will go to countries that value their "brains". And only scientists from Ukraine will be known in the world, but not as those who make science at home.

But Ukrainian enthusiasts do not leave hopes for a breakthrough in the industry. In KPI students have created KubSanta - the smallest artificial satellite of the Earth. It flew into space with 50 others. There are also fans of astronomy and astrophotography who discover new space objects and receive rewards for it.

It seems to me that we are just stung in time, when something completely new is being created in Ukraine. In just a year or two we will know about it, - hopes Tetyana Skorokhod.

To support the interest in space among contemporary youth, the LuckyBooks volunteers decided to introduce Kyiv schoolchildren to the starry sky directly in the observatory for the Cosmonautics Day.

The acquaintance with the museum began with an important point. After all, all those present stood on the Kiyv Meredian, which passes through the building of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Kyiv.

In the museum, schoolchildren asked a lot of questions - how to find stars that cannot be seen even in the best telescopes, has the whole world appeared from one explosion, and we are all made up of stars.

And the main event was the contemplation of stars through a huge telescope.

Delight and joy with which a person looks at the stars probably will never light down. And the more stars we can name and the more constellations we can distinguish, the closer the sky gets to us. After the student stood on the Kiyv meridian, will he be able to forget this? I think a deep and sincere interest in the subject arises from romance, poetry, fairy tales, - says Kateryna Vasylenko, a natural science teacher at the alternative Kiterra school, who came on a tour with the children.

Space topics have for many years remained one of the most interesting for science fiction writers and scientists. The stars are interesting for adults and children. In the near future, adolescents of the eastern regions of Ukraine will also be able to "touch the stars", when they receive presents from LuckyBooks project - the books on the space and the universe of authorship of one of the most brilliant modern scientists of Stephen Hawking.
