The first edition of LuckyBooks is being distributed across libraries in 4 eastern regions

From Mariupol to Kupyansk, from Severodonetsk to Zaporozhye – teenagers of mostly Russian-speaking regions will now have the opportunity to read high-quality science-popular literature in Ukrainian language.

The book about Tesla, issued within LuckyBooks project, is distributed free of charge to children's libraries of large and small cities in four eastern regions of the country: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kharkiv. “Tesla and car on space energy” by the famous Italian children's writer Luka Novelli is the first edition of a charitable project. And at the same time it is the first book about the brilliant inventor, which appeared in print for teens in Ukrainian.

Local librarians have happily greeted LuckyBooks, because they say that there has long been a lack of good Ukrainian-language literature in general, and high-quality publications for children in particular.

We have a very small selection of popular science literature for children. Mostly it's old Soviet publications that have long lost their relevance, - complains Olena Ladchenko, director of the municipal organization "Dobropilsk City Central Library System". - Finding something new is difficult, we have no bookstores in the city to analyze the market, and prices in publishing houses have little information. So the LuckyBooks project in this situation is very relevant.

However, the book about Tesla is being distributed not only to central children's libraries, but also to libraries at boarding schools.

Volunteers support us. There is no more help. Including books. The library, for the most part, is outdated and replenished only at the expense of the benefactors, - complains the director of the Kostyantynivka boarding school Victoria Pogribnaya.

Children are here around the clock, and many have no computer or phone. But they read a lot. We are Russian-language boarding school, and we lack books in Ukrainian. There is also very few books on popular science," says Olena Frona, head of the Library of Kostyantynivka Boarding School. - But when volunteers bring us a Ukrainian-language book, but also with a beautiful design, with illustrations, as for Tesla book, the children are lining up for it.
