LuckyBooks defends the children’s right to read the best books

LuckyBooks congratulated teenagers on International Children's Day and questioned the participants of the largest children's charity festival "Bukovynska Mriya" about their literature preferences.

One should not recall chidren only on June 1, said the LuckyBokks’ organizator, Head of Charity Fund "I am future of Ukraine" and the festival "Bukovynska Mriya" Marta Levchenko. It is better to protect children while taking care of their spiritual development. "Today the best gift is primarily a book where children can find answers to many questions, to grow as an individual. Children are the future of Ukraine, and the future depends on education, self-development, on books, after all, when a child can just have sometime alone with a book”.

Children who came to the festival from all over Ukraine for ten days are engaged in various contests, participate in educational workshops and competitions. LuckyBooks held an interactive meeting with the project’s first author Dmytro Kuzmenko with future readers. Today we asked the teens which non-fiction books they read and what they would like to learn.

I love to read books about space, the stars, the sun. The last book I read was about Saturn and gravity. Interestingly, here rain falls to the ground, and we can just walk or jump. But in space if you dare jump you may end up flying away somewhere.

I love books about different countries. I wonder what is eating there, studying there, where they do, where they live. I want to read about Italy, Germany, Israel. Recently I have read how people lived in ancient times, and learned that people ate any animals people and did not care much what to eat.

I'm curious to read about the planets of the solar system, what they consist of. We have recently learned that the sun's surface temperature is up to 6,000 degrees, and in the nucleus it is 1 million degrees. And if you weigh 28 kilo on the planet, in the space your helmet will weigh 3 kilo, and you in costume will be about 6 kilo.

I like encyclopedias, there are a lot of interesting things: animals, flowers, people. I was surprised with a human body, e.g. the fact that after eating our food is oxidized in the stomach and only the goes out. I also like to read about the history of Ukraine.

The  star guests of the festival also shared their literature preferences. The singer Svitlana Tarabarova loves to read, in particular books on self-development. Now these are mostly  books on music, and as a child I enjoyed to read on mathematics and physics. "I sincerely join the initiative of caring people from LuckyBooks. I want to thank you for what you do for children as it is important to support children, and not only physically but also spiritually. Books fill, give a way inside, that feeling of freedom, feeling to be as a bird. I wish you great, happy people who are as caring as you " – said Svitlana.

Svitlana’s performance was a present for girl Irina from Voznesensk (ed., Ukrainian city). Festival "Bukovynska Mriya" aims to fulfill dreams of children from orphanages and children with disabilities. Bicycles, balls, shoes, musical instruments, sweets – 800 children received various gifts after writing a letter with the most cherished dreams to the festival organizers –  charity fund "I am future of Ukraine." The funds old friend, singer Oleg Skrypka, member of Experts’ Council, said that he fulfills his drean during the festival –  his band “VV” performing with the children.
